Manulife appoints Dr. Khoo Kah Siang as Manulife Singapore CEO

Hong Kong – Manulife today announced that Dr. Khoo Kah Siang has been appointed Chief Executive Officer for Manulife Singapore. He will join Manulife’s Asia Executive Committee and report directly to Manulife Asia CEO, Anil Wadhwani. His appointment is effective from 9 February 2018, subject to any necessary regulatory approvals.

Kah Siang will be responsible for the Company’s operations in Singapore, including its life insurance, wealth management and retirement solutions businesses.

Kah Siang joins Manulife from a very successful 12 year career at Great Eastern. Most recently he was Senior Managing Director, Strategic Business Development and Regional Bancassurance, responsible for growing its businesses across South East Asia. Previously he was CEO of its Singapore operations, achieving record growth for the company’s life, group and general insurance businesses. Earlier roles include CFO of Great Eastern Singapore and Deputy Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Kah Siang has held a number of industry leadership positions, including Distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Banking and Finance, and President of the Life Insurance Association of Singapore. Kah Siang holds a BSc and PhD degrees from the University of Kent. 

Kah Siang replaces Naveed Irshad, who was appointed Head, North America Legacy Business – a dedicated senior leadership role with direct responsibility for Manulife’s closed legacy businesses in North America. Naveed has had a highly successful 20 year career with Manulife, including extensive life insurance, product risk and reinsurance experience. Under his leadership the Singapore business has grown significantly, becoming Manulife’s third largest market in Asia.
