3 ways to have a stress-free Lunar New Year

10 January 2022 | 1-min read

Manulife’s Asia Care Survey 2022 shows that Singaporeans are a super-stressed lot. Only 53% say their mental health is good. Fortunately, physical exercise can help. 66% of Singaporeans believe that physical exercise can reduce mental stress.

Preparing for Lunar New Year can be stressful. Here are some tips on how you can use the power of exercise to help you have a stress-free new year.

1- Start your spring-cleaning today (if you haven’t)

Start your spring-cleaning today! Waiting until the last-minute creates stress that you could do without. If you start early, you give yourself more time to do what you need to do.

Do a little spring-cleaning every day. Pick a small area, like a countertop or a wardrobe, and focus on it for 15 minutes. Once 15 minutes is up – stop!

2 - Use public transport

Singapore is blessed with a fantastic public transport network. Why not use it when you do your Lunar New Year shopping? Not only are you being environmentally conscious, you are also working out as you shop.

If you must drive, try incorporating little bits of exercise in between. Park further away from the entrance to clock up those steps. Instead of taking the lift, try the stairs.

3 - Use the ManulifeMOVE App

What better way to huat than to get rewarded every time you move! The ManulifeMOVE app is a customer rewards programme designed to reward you for every move you make. Earn cash rewards for hitting a target number of steps over a certain period. Rewards are available to Manulife policyholders only.
